Zhangliang Malatang offers a solid dining experience for anyone who loves customizable hot pot-style meals. The concept is simple but fun--you pick your ingredients, they weigh it, and then prepare it in a flavorful, spicy broth. The variety of fresh vegetables, meats, seafood, and noodles available makes it easy to create a bowl tailored to your taste. The broth itself was rich and aromatic, with just the right level of spice to warm you up without being overwhelming. The ingredients I selected were cooked perfectly, retaining their texture and flavor. While the food was undeniably tasty, I did feel the price added up quickly depending on the weight of your bowl, which might catch some people off guard. The service was polite and efficient, though it's not the kind of place where you expect extensive interactions. The staff were quick to prepare the orders and made sure everything came out hot and fresh. The ambience is casual and straightforward, with a clean and modern interior. It's more of a grab-and-go or quick-dine kind of spot rather than a place to linger, but it's comfortable enough to enjoy your meal. Overall, Zhangliang Malatang delivers on flavor and variety. It's a great choice for a quick, satisfying meal, though the price-to-portion ratio might leave you wanting a little more value.

Zhangliang Malatang offers exactly what you'd expect from a typical Sichuan-style hot pot experience! I love the grab-and-go concept, where you can take as much as you want and pay accordingly. It's a cost-effective option that lets you control your budget. The service is straightforward--just pay at the front, choose your broth type, and you're all set. This makes it an excellent spot for introverts who prefer to enjoy their meals in peace. For two bowls, the total was around $20, which was super convenient for my date. In terms of ambiance, I appreciated that it was quiet and uncrowded during my visit. They offer a wide variety of ingredients, including fish balls, meatballs, ramen, udon, vermicelli, lamb, beef, and an assortment of vegetables like broccoli, celery, and lettuce. While the ingredients were frozen rather than fresh--which was a bit disappointing--the combination of broth, meats, and vegetables still made for a tasty meal. I also appreciated the small sauce and drink bar on the side, which added a nice variety of options. That said, I would have preferred fresher ingredients and a richer broth, but overall, it's an excellent choice for a quick and satisfying meal!

Great first time experience. I've been to several in the area so far and the soup base flavor all tastes the same...gets me to wonder did they get their soup base flavors all from the same source... (YingTang, YGF, and this place). YingTang somehow always comes out pricier so that gets us wondering did they skew the weight... Anyhow, would return. Fast, convenient, healthy, sanitary, tasty, satisfying.

Zhangliang Malatang in Rowland Heights is a solid spot for hot pot lovers! Located in Diamond Plaza near Midoh, it's a self-serve experience where you pick out your favorite ingredients, pay by weight, and they cook it up for you in your choice of broth. I went with the mild bone broth, and it was flavorful without being overpowering - perfect for really tasting each ingredient. The sauce bar is a plus, offering a variety of options to customize the flavor just how you like it. Overall, it's a solid meal with fresh ingredients, and while it can add up in cost if you load up on heavier items, it's definitely worth it. 4/5 - great choice for anyone looking to try a more simplified hot pot experience!

Had an Amazing experience here! My husband and I love hot pot and after watching our fav Chinese food blogger talk about this chain in China, we knew we had to try our local one! They have 5000+ locations throughout the world! We went right before they opened and there was already a party waiting outside. You walk in and grab your bowl and tongs then pick whatever you want for ingredients. I loaded up on mushrooms, noodles, beef, and greens. You have to add the youtiao! I never would have thought to add it if the blogger didn't think to mention it. We both got spicy dry pot with medium spice and I think it was perfect. Not too spicy but plenty of flavor! And also make sure to make the perfect dipping sauce. The server was attentive and gilled up our waters whenever we needed it. The place is kind of small but really clean. If you love spice, get the plum juice! It'll help.

I didn't really like this malatang spot at first but retired it again recently and the soup flavor was a lot better. I also like that they organize the veggies first, and then the meats at the end. Sauce bar is also more northern china sauce options which I appreciate. The only thing that out me off was that they charged mandatory tip for a party of 5 or more. Girl. Why? You did nothing i built my own soup ;__;

10/10! Was looking for a late night bite and found this gem. We were greeted upon entering and quickly assigned a table. The staff was so attentive and even guided us on how they do things. We were directed to their self serve bar with different amenities for hot pot. You just grabbed whatever you wanted, however much you wanted into your bowl and at the end they weigh it and asked for your preferred flavor/style and spice level.

~~- * COMPARABLE to Yitang * -~~ This place is a self-serve cooked hot pot. Once you pick your ingredients, you weigh your bowl and then you can choose whether or not you want it with soup or dried. I think it's $13.99 per lbs. I really like it w/ the bone broth!! This place has more flavor compared to Yitang but their sauce options aren't that great.
